Senior Care Options

Independent Living communities provide a safe, secure, and social environment for seniors who are able to live independently without needing assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, or medication management.

Who it's for:

It's designed for active and healthy seniors who want to maintain their independence while enjoying the benefits of community living, such as social activities, dining options, and amenities.

What it offers:

Housing: Typically, independent living communities offer apartment-style living or single-family homes within a larger community setting.

Amenities: These communities often include amenities like fitness centers, pools, dining venues, libraries, and activity rooms.

Services: Services may include housekeeping, laundry, transportation, and scheduled social activities.

Security: Many communities offer 24-hour security and staff availability for assistance if needed.

Key Differences from Assisted Living:

Level of Care: Independent living focuses on maintaining independence, while assisted living provides assistance with ADLs.

Staff: Independent living staff typically don't offer personal care services, whereas assisted living staff are available to assist with daily tasks.

Independence: Residents retain their independence and freedom to live as they choose.

Socialization: Community living provides opportunities for social interaction and engagement.

Convenience: Services and amenities simplify daily life and reduce the burden of home maintenance.

Safety: 24-hour security and staff availability provide peace of mind. Although you are fully independent,  help is there should your level of care change.

Things to Consider:

Cost: Independent living can be more expensive than other housing options, but costs vary depending on location and amenities.

Medical Needs: If you or a loved one needs regular medical care or assistance with ADLs, assisted living may be a better option.
